The fact that the battery in the winter will fall is clear to all is that the laws of physics cannot be circumvented. A warm garage only partially solve the problem. Because the owner of the Model S is certainly a wealthy man, who most of the time spends at work. That is at least 10 - 12 hours, the electric car will still stand in the cold. But even if from severe cold battery will lose 2 - 5 a day that is a small thing. Still the owner of the electric car will have every night to put electric car charging.
As for the battery life. We have a factory where I worked for 12 years is the electric vehicle. So the battery still works. Drives while the other battery is charging. For a full charge need about 6 -8 hours. Then the operator changes a dead battery is charged and then goes through a whole shift ( we work around the clock).
